Safety and supervision

An adult chooses a safe, accessible place and stays present. Check weather; stay away from roads and water. Do not touch, taste, or collect plants or wildlife. Never look directly at the sun.

Put the device away and begin

  1. Choose a familiar outdoor spot or a view from indoors. Put devices away.
  2. Notice three shapes, colors, or textures. Draw them or describe them to each other.
  3. Compare two observations. What is similar? What is different? Separate what you saw from what you guessed.
  4. Each person asks one question. It is fine to leave it unanswered and simply enjoy the place.

Another way to participate

Observe a familiar plant through a window or use a picture from a book. Describe, draw, point, or dictate observations.

You can simply talk about this or write on paper. Nothing needs to be submitted.
